End Date: 11/13/2018End Time: 2:00 PM
Event Description:
The Scandinavian countries are well known for their welfare systems. This lecture will give an introduction to the basic legal structure of the health care systems. The access to health care in the Scandinavian countries is to a large extent based on universal coverage for all residents covered by the national insurance scheme. Despite the public funding, the total expenditure on health as a percentage of GDP is significantly lower than in the US (OECD, figures from 2013).

Søvig is president of the European Association of Health Law and guest professor at Faculty of Law, Changchun University of Science and Technology, China. His research has focused on different forms of coercive measures within the welfare state, as well as children’s rights.
